February 2006

I guess the fire really didn’t affect our printing. I just received the first two copies of So You Don’t Want to Go to Church Anymore that were overnighted from the printer. The rest should arrive this week and we’ll begin to mail them out on a first-come, first-served basis. We’ve got quite a few orders here and I’ll be out of town, so my part-time office staff will work through them as fast as she can. We pray the book will be a blessing and an encouragement to many.

We found out last week that the print company printing our book had a fire in one of their print binders.  They have others, but told us this may delay the release date of our book. Can you imagine?  I guess this book will be ‘hot off the presses’ whenever we get them. So right now the company still told us we could plan for our March 1 date, but the could no longer guarantee it.  Bummer!  But they’re coming!  We should have them soon.  All along people have been so gracious and patient with us on this project.  I hope we won’t need to tax that yet again…

And this came today from a good friend of mine, Jack who lives in Aukland, New Zealand

We are excited about the release of the book. It is going to be an instrument in Father’s hand to release many from the bondage of religion into the glorious freedom of the sons of God. Bless you Wayne for writing it.  I have passed on the Jake site to quite a few folks and without exception they have been encouraged and helped on their way.

We got this email from Australia the other day:

Have you decided on a (different) title? Will you be putting it into regular Christian bookshops? I would love to see your book in there and given the nature of the Australian national character I think it would do very well with the title just as it is – “So, you don’t want to go to church anymore”. No doubt it would stir up controversy and opposition (are you prepared for that) but it would also get people’s attention. Many people in paid ministry would consider it as dangerous and condemn it. There are however many, many people in this country who go to church week after week after week and are basically sick of it. They know it doesnt deliver reality but they don’t know anything else. – Anyway this is just a thought from a brother with a little bit of anarchist still in him.

I’d love to get it in bookstores too, but since we did this one on our own, we don’t have the mechanisms to get that done.  If bookstores want them, however, we will make them available.

And I guess we’re ready for the opposition should it come, but this is a pretty small blip on the radar screen of Christian thought.  Who knows what Father will do with it.  I’m just thrilled to be on the journey with him.

We’re just getting this started, but in the future we’ll use this page to update interested readers on the distribution of Jake’s story, information on new translations, and to interact with email from our readers. Bookmark this page to keep up with all the latest information on Jake’s unfolding story.
