Jake News

The Spanish Translation of So You Don’t Want To Go To Church Anymore is now available in HTML and PDF formats for our Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters. A dear brother donated his time and expertise in making this translation available free of charge to anyone who wants it.

If others would like to help us translate this book into other languages, please let us know. We’d be happy to grant permission and to make your work available on our website.

There’s lots of movement now to get So You Don’t Want to Go to Church Anymore out in a number of languages. The Russian translation was completed months ago and is now on the website. A few months ago we also posted the Dutch translation. Now we are beginning to add a Spanish Translation and you’ll find the first seven chapters now up on the web site. For links to all of those translations click here.

Also two European publishers have put together a German Version, with a new title, The Cry of the Wild Geese: Setting out For a Free Life in Christ Beyond Religion and Tradition. You can view the cover at left. This translation can be ordered from Glory World Publishers.

Also a card company in France has just produced a French translation of that story as well. You can view it’s cover on the right. It can be ordered from Editions-Promesses.

Dave and I are so blessed that this story has captured the hearts of so many people and that some wonderful people around the world have thought enough of the story to translate as a labor of love to let others read it in their native tongue. I pray that through these pages people will hear the cry of the Spirit that calls them into the full freedom of our inheritance as the redeemed sons and daughters of the Father of all!

There are lots of things going on here, that we want to update you about.

  • We are on the verge of selling out of our first printing, and have ordered another printing to continue the fill the need. The reprint is basically the same book with a few typos fixed. It is also being published with a new publisher, Windblown Media, but will continue to be distributed through Lifestream.org.  You can order your copy here.
  • We’ve also added two new PDF versions of So You Don’t Want to Go to Church Anymore. Both are the final versions that we printed up. One is in an 8.5 x 11 format and the other is the final page spreads that we had printed.
  • The audio version of the book is now available. Wayne Jacobsen reads the book onto 5 CDs. This set is available from Lifestream for $20.00 plus shipping.
  • Finally, we just posted the 12th chapter of the book in our Russian Translation. We should have it finished by the end of the year.

What an incredible year this has been for Jake! Thanks to all who have read this story, enjoyed the story, passed it on to friends, ordered copies and written us to tell us what an impact it had on your lives. We’ve had so much fun telling this story and seeing how much confirmation it has brought to others.

Nadia, a reader in Russia, is translating Jake Colsen’s story into Russian and we will be posting chapters on our website as she makes progress.  If you know readers who speak Russian, you are welcome to forward the link on to them.  The first chapter is up and others will follow as they are completed.  For those reading it in Russian, if you have an editing suggestions, please send them to us and we’ll forward them on to the translator.  Nadia is doing this as a labor of love.

On a side note, we will also be posting soon a complete French translation.  Also a German publisher is translating Jake’s book into German and publishing it in book form.

Here’s you’re chance to meet the authors of the Jake Story and find out a bit more about what went on behind the scenes in the production of this book.  Wayne Jacobsen and Dave Coleman did an interview recently for The God Journey in conjunction with the book’s release in print.  Brad Cummings interviews Wayne and Dave as they fall into a wide-ranging discussion about shame, guilt, religious obligation and control and how Jesus’ work sets us free to live in him. They challenge you to rethink Christianity, not as the religion it has become, but as a transforming relationship with his Father that Jesus always meant it to be.You can listen to the interview here.

I guess the fire really didn’t affect our printing. I just received the first two copies of So You Don’t Want to Go to Church Anymore that were overnighted from the printer. The rest should arrive this week and we’ll begin to mail them out on a first-come, first-served basis. We’ve got quite a few orders here and I’ll be out of town, so my part-time office staff will work through them as fast as she can. We pray the book will be a blessing and an encouragement to many.

We found out last week that the print company printing our book had a fire in one of their print binders.  They have others, but told us this may delay the release date of our book. Can you imagine?  I guess this book will be ‘hot off the presses’ whenever we get them. So right now the company still told us we could plan for our March 1 date, but the could no longer guarantee it.  Bummer!  But they’re coming!  We should have them soon.  All along people have been so gracious and patient with us on this project.  I hope we won’t need to tax that yet again…

We’re just getting this started, but in the future we’ll use this page to update interested readers on the distribution of Jake’s story, information on new translations, and to interact with email from our readers. Bookmark this page to keep up with all the latest information on Jake’s unfolding story.
